DJ music for hipsters is one of the most quickly morphing subgenres in modern music. Three years ago it was all Soul Wax and pop music mashups, but now the Zeitgeist has quickly recentered on Southern hip-hop, Baltimore club music, and South American sounds. And few have done more to usher in this new aesthetic than Philadelphia DJ duo Hollertronix, which includes Diplo and Low Budget. And though their cross-cultural milieu might sound more like a dissertation than a party, Hollertronix is known for throwing-down some seriously funky fun. For Low Budget’s set at Sofi Lounge, you might want to find some dancing shoes to complement your vintage tees and black-rim glasses.
