Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You
We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
UK progressive house titan John Digweed hardly needs an introduction anywhere people get down to electronic music beats, lazers and glowsticks. Since his ’90s decade-defining forays alongside Sasha and their famed Northern Exposure compilation series, Digweed has become one of the most ubiquitous and recognizable names in the industry.
The acclaimed DJ/producer is certainly no stranger to Miami, where as co-owner of downtown EDM hotspot Vagabond he has played sporadic intimate sets, not to mention his yearly performances during Winter Music Conference.
This summer has seen the release of Digweed’s latest compilation mix Structures on his own Bedrock label. The double-disc collection features over thirty tracks, including various unreleased offerings by the likes of Wehbba, John Daly, Nic Fanciulli and his own studio collaborations with Bedrock co-owner Nick Miur.
John Digweed will be playing at Gryphon Club in the Seminole Hard Rock this Friday along with critically-acclaimed native Floridian DJ/producer Chris Fortier. Boasting his own singular brand of techno with dark progressive underpinnings, Fortier has had an illustrious DJ career since the early ’90s, having released a bestselling remix of Delerium’s “Silence” featuring Sarah McLachlan in 1998.
John Digweed. With DJ Chris Fortier. Saturday, September 4. Gryphon, 5711 Seminole Way, Hollywood. Doors open at 10 p.m. Tickets cost $25 in advance from wantickets.com. Ages 21+ with ID. 954-581-5454; gryphon-club.com
