On a rainy South Florida night, Lil Wayne brought 20+ years of Carter classics to a full house at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach. The final stop on his Tha Carter VI Tour closed out on a celebratory note.

Dressed in black leather pants, a matching jacket, a white shirt, and a skinny black tie, Wayne took the stage at 9:55 p.m. sharp. No hype man, no theatrics, just a guitar, a joint, and his signature swagger. Despite the downpour, fans packed the lawn as if it were part of the experience. No one sat; everyone danced.

Opening acts Tyga and NoCap set the right tone, but the New Orleans rapper brought the soul. Backed by a simple brick-building stage set and embodying the chill energy of a bluesman, he delivered a sharp, unfussy performance that highlighted his legacy. The setlist pulled deep from the Carter vault: “Fireman,” “6 Foot 7 Foot,” “Lollipop,” “Drop the World,” and fan-favorite collaborations like “The Motto” (Drake and Tyga) and “HYFR” (Drake).

The power of his set — and the fact that he performed with a white electric guitar — nodded to his love for rock, especially Nirvana, a group Wayne has often cited as influential during his childhood.

Wayne’s impact on the rap landscape is unmatched. He debuted on Cash Money Records at just 11 years old, rose to fame with his group Hot Boys, and later skyrocketed as a solo artist. He’s racked up five Grammys, nine No. 1 rap albums, and shattered chart records, once surpassing Elvis Presley for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries by a male artist. And while Tha Carter VI received a cold 2.9 rating from Pitchfork, the fans in West Palm made one thing clear: they’re still riding with Weezy.
