Bands, you probably already know about and use Sonicbids. So you'll know that the site is also a gateway for local bands to score slots at big-deal events and festivals. Recently, local act the Mission Veo submitted a demo through Sonicbids and scored a gig at the local stop of the Warped Tour.

So, time is running out to submit material through the site to win a spot playing an official showcase at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York this October. Like SXSW, it's a big-deal industry shebang that's super-competitive, and puts bands in front of bloggers, journalists, publicists, label people, and so on.

Last year, Awesome New Republic and Ex Norwegian submitted through Sonicbids, and played CMJ shows to much fanfare.

So get to it. The absolute final deadline is midnight on Wednesday, July 15. Visit www.sonicbids.com/cmj. All submissions will get a review and response.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
