The concept of coffee raves has been steadily gaining traction across Miami, carving out a niche that blends daytime energy with nightlife sensibilities. Events like 9 AM Banger and Cafe Grooves — both recently spotlighted by New Times — highlight how this movement, fueled by caffeine and Gen Z’s appetite for alternative party formats, is reshaping the city’s social hangout spots. Now, just in time for Miami Music Week, a new player is stepping into the mix: Bigface Coffee, the lifestyle-driven brand founded by NBA star (former Miami Heat) Jimmy Butler.
On Thursday, March 26, Bigface Coffee’s Design District location will host a daytime activation that combines music, culture, and community from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event marks the debut of “Frequency,” described by the brand as “a recurring signal from BIGFACE” centered around “coffee, sound, connection.” The concept aligns seamlessly with the growing demand for experiences that exist outside the traditional nightclub format — especially during a week known for its around-the-clock programming.
For its first edition, Frequency taps into Miami’s locals by partnering with Technique Records, one of the city’s most respected vinyl shops. The collaboration brings a curated pop-up record selection into the café, while DJs Just Dimy and Carozilla provide the soundtrack, reinforcing the event’s emphasis on intentional listening and crate-digging culture.
There’s no RSVP required; you can simply pull up, order an iced latte, a cappuccino, or a shot (of espresso) and get into the groove.
Bigface Coffee itself leans into this hybrid identity. Beyond its beverage menu — which includes out-of-the-box options like a cinnamon and coconut oat latte — the brand positions itself as a broader lifestyle brand. Its retail component features apparel such as hoodies, jackets, and track pants.
The brand’s ethos — “better coffee, big dreams, and bigger smiles” — carries over into the event’s tone, which comes with a warning: it “may cause involuntary happiness.”
Frequency joins a long list of events in unexpected places that pop up around town during this time of year, such as a silent disco at the Brightline, a rave at a gelato shop in Wynwood, and countless others. The New Times team took the time to compile the list of the Best Miami Music Week events so you don’t have to.
