It's puzzling why people who are hell-bent on blowing the minds of other people via so-called "noise music" so often also seem hell-bent on blowing their sonic victims' olfactory senses. So weird smells aside, the International Noise Conference is the place to see and hear shit that you will not likely hear in any other venue in Miami. It draws musicians and performers from all over the world, and many, many, many local performers turn in sets that go outside their normal mainstream endeavors.
Thursday night is usually the local smorgasbord and this year's edition is no different. (Performers include the Squelchers, Dino Felipe, Otto von Schirach, Ha Ha Help!, etc., and so forth). This year the INC is also traveling to SXSW, but first, Rat Bastard and friends will be taking over Churchill's in their time-honored annual tradition. There's no cover ever for this thing. Bring earplugs and smelling salts and get ready to have the cobwebs knocked loose.
Rat also says that "girls always rock harder," so keep an eye out for the females, like Leslie Keffer. To make matters worse, or better, he just finished installing a brand new sound system at the Pub, as if it wasn't loud enough already. Full, incredible, awesome lineup is on the Squelchers site.
