Hernán Cattáneo’s second mix CD, 2004’s Renaissance: The Masters Series, was a sublime progressive house effort that catapulted the Argentine DJ to international stardom. For the most part, his sequel offers more of the same. The first disc maintains a strong, even keel between the two styles, balancing light yet funky numbers such as Delays’ “Lost in a Melody (Tom Middleton Cosmos Dub).” The second disc is more wispy as Cattáneo spins together tracks that are all heart-tugging strings and yearning beats. The net effect is often hypnotic, but dangerously slight, and you half expect his tote bag of records to float away.
