Yeah, we seriously slagged Questlove's last local DJ gig. In fact, you may remember us saying shit like, "Besides the purp stench lingering in the air, nothing about Questlove's mix ... got us high" and "We're done covering DJ sets."

Well, um, we meant it at the time. But with WMC only two weeks away, it's time to make peace. So let us just say: Crossfade still loves Questo and his famous 'fro.

Better now?

Anyway, we're planning to be there with our reporter pads and other geek gear when Mr. Thompson, MC sidekick Yameen Allworld, and NYC promotion-slash-marketing crew Giant Step throw down at the Florida Room March 12.

You should go too. For one, it's free. (Just RSVP to giantstep.net/questlove.) And for another, it's Questlove. He's a musical genius and he's got awesome hair. Even we can't stay mad at him.

Questlove with Yameen Allworld, presented by Giant Step. Saturday, March 12. Florida Room at the Delano, 1685 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. Doors open at 10 p.m. and admission is free with RSVP to giantstep.net/questlove. Ages 21 and up. Call 305-674-6152 or visit delano-hotel.com.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
