Given the homogeneity of Miami's EDM scene -- as much as we love house and techno, even we need an occasional rest from that four-on-the-floor beat -- it's exciting to get the type of booking that's truly pushing the sonic envelope. Thanks to the small but burgeoning local dubstep/bass scene we seem to be getting a lot of cutting-edge talent from Europe, and namely the UK, lately, which is where talented producer Alex Melia a.k.a. Reso hails from.

Boasting an eclectic mind-boggling fusion of deep dubstep wobble, hard-hitting drum 'n' bass beats and virtuosic jazz-funk synth flourishes via techy glitchy edits, it's safe to say that Reso's sound is very much his own.

The emerging young star has been making big waves in the international bass community and counts his acclaimed releases among the labels Civil Music, Urban Graffiti, Storming, and Pitch Black.

White Room welcomes Reso for a special bass-intensive performance on Saturday night, along with Somejerk, New Times' 2010 Best New Electronica Artist, and esteemed Atlanta-based DJ/producer Trench, celebrating his new August 10 release on Trillbass Records.

Reso, with Somejerk, Trench and More. Saturday, August 7. 10 p.m.-5 a.m. No Cover from 10 p.m.-11 p.m., $15 after. White Room. 1306 N. Miami Ave., Miami. whiteroomshows.com
