The human senses can be very deceiving.
For example, if you were to roll up to a show featuring Providence Rhode Island's Dropdead -- say, at Churchill's Pub on December 4 -- and take a quick whiff of their van (and maybe a taste test of the Food Not Bombs cous-cous and chickpea goulash in their travel thermos), you might think these guys were a bunch of lava lamp-staring hippies, and their legions of unwashed fans a bunch of Dead Heads or, even worse, Phish Phools.
But upon employing your body's auditory and visual capabilities you will realize these dudes are less Wavy Gravy and more wrathful, sneeringly crusty political hardcore.
For nearly two decades, Dropdead has been playing wild, high-energy shows, touring the international DIY punk-and-anarcho circuits and crashing at collective squats with "raw vegan" plumbing.
The ensemble's performance at Churchill's this December will mark its first trip to Miami ever, and there's literally no other venue in South Florida that could or would host this thing.
Dropdead with Shitstorm, Maruta, Hardware Youth and 440. Sunday, December 4, Churchill's Pub, 5501 NE 2 Ave, Miami, FL. Tickets are $10 at the door and there is an $8 presale. Churchillspub.com
