“This Spring is your chance to witness the legend himself.”
That’s the official hype for DJ Shadow’s All Basses Covered 2013 tour, a 15-city U.S. trek that’s set to snub Miami (and Mansion Nightclub), where the Cali selektor was kicked off the decks for being “too future.”
“As opposed to last year’s tour,” the Shadow team explains, “All Basses Covered 2013 will be hosted by venues who value the communal experience of music and high-quality sound over exclusivity and bottle service.”

In December, Shadow was ordered to end his show at Mansion because SoBe VIPs weren’t digging the vibe, which prompted him to tweet:
And even though Mansion reps formally apologized, offering their “most sincere apologies to DJ Shadow and his fans for his set being cut short,” the self-described “legend” hasn’t forgiven the club. Maybe even our city.
In January, Shadow released the full one-hour-26-minute-and-17-second “All Basses Covered (The Infamous South Beach Set)” via SoundCloud, asking, “Too hard? Too future? Or just too raw?,” adding, “As always, DJ Shadow has provoked crucial flashpoints of discussion about the discipline of DJ’ing that have defined our turbulent times.”
And now he’s making his point by striking South Florida from his latest tour.
“By playing in quality atmospheres,” the Shadow team announces, “like Brooklyn’s new Funktion-One Sound System club, Output on April 11, and the legendary outdoor amphitheater, Red Rocks in Colorado on June 1,” and not an exclusive, bottle-service Miami club…
“DJ Shadow will truly be able to stand behind his sophisticated sound.”
