Let’s face it: DJ Rap knows she’s smokin’ hot, both on and off the decks. The veteran British drum ‘n’ bass mixologist/producer/actress had her confidence game all set early on in her career, when she named her own independent label Proper Talent Records. But as people have tried to force her time and time again to be a pinup (she even appeared in a Twix commercial at one point), Rap has fired back with rougher and tougher tracks that keep her international reputation solidified — not to mention slinkier and slinkier outfits that show her beauty as well as her brawn. No female has eclipsed her status as a DJ in this genre. She’s getting ready to drop her first original album in eons, and it’s likely that for this Miami appearance, she’ll come armed with some songs to test out on a hungry, rumbling dance floor ready for some substantial new grooves.
