Khaled bin Abdul Khaled — DJ Khaled for short — is turning 36 this month, and the legendary radio personality, label executive, and accomplished music producer will celebrate the date of his birth in prime Washington Avenue style.
Hosted by 99 Jamz’s Felisha Monet, Khaled’s birthday bash will go down Black Friday at Mansion. We hear Rick Ross will be there; so will MMG’s Meek Mill and We the Best’s Ace Hood. However, it’s highly unlikely we’ll catch the following people poppin’ bottles and toasting Khaled’s health this Friday.
Luther Campbell: Last month, the New Times columnist and booty music pioneer blasted Khaled and Lil Wayne for not “investing anything into the community.” In his weekly column, Campbell gave Khaled and his homies a January 1 deadline, threatening to “have their Miami card revoked” if the chubby hype man and others don’t pony up some charitable dough.
Lil Wayne: In August, DJ Khaled signed a deal with Cash Money Records. But Weezy, his YMCMB label mate, “ain’t feeling Khaled rite now.” At least that was the sentiment when Lil Tunechi responded to Campbell’s aforementioned ultimatum (and his subsequent appearance on Khaled’s radio show) via Twitter.
We’re thankful for you. Are you thankful for us?
We feel thankful for our staff and for the privilege of fulfilling our mission to be an unparalleled source of information and insight in Miami. We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community.
Help us continue giving back to Miami.
The 210 people on Facebook who follow I Fucking Hate DJ Khaled: Headed by Colin Dickinson and Kevin Gwinn, the I Fucking Hate DJ Khaled Facebook group is a public forum where people are encouraged to freely and wantonly shit on Khaled. For example, Ryan “Keiloo” Keil calls Khaled a “no talented fat fuck,” and Noah Pitts thinks he should “take a nap on a railroad track.”
Happy birthday, Khaled!
