The second round of the Summer Spin Series (hosted by Gryphon Nightclub and New Times) went down August 21 with DJ Edgar G, DJ Mikey Shanley, and DJ Supersede squaring off in a house format competition for the second spot at the finals on October 16. DJ Edgar G started off the competition and packed the dance floor within minutes. DJ Mikey Shanley, who had the most energy of any DJ during the competition, took the stage next while DJ Supersede finished off the night. After a very quick meeting, the judges (aka myself, DJ Hurricane and Gryphon resident DJ Matt Spector) announced DJ Edgar G the unanimous winner.

DJ Edgar G joins DJ Alej Varez as the DJs confirmed to play at Gryphon on October 16 for the Summer Spin Series Finals. Round three of the SSS takes place on September 18 starting at 10:30 p.m. with free admission and an open bar for everyone from 10:30 until midnight.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
