Listen up, heads. It’s time to slip into those space suits, pack a NASA lunch, and trip beatifically across the cosmos. Right now, Cee Know the Doodlebug, of legendary intergalactic rap crew Digable Planets, is hurtling toward Miami aboard his own personal flying saucer for an exclusive album release and zero-gravity getdown in Grand Central’s second-floor party loft.
Hauling a heavy cargo load (backpacks overflowing with moon rocks, industrial-grade bass bins, and an entire cache of his new record, Futuristic Sci-Fi), the Bug is also packing a full-on army of highly trained hip-hop astronauts. So be there around 9 p.m. this Friday when Doodle’s crew — Metro Zu and Shuttle Life, Telekinetic Walrus’s Ydiz, the Cornerstoners, YMF (Your Mom’s Favorite), and Pages & the Out of Hand Band — crash-lands on North Miami Avenue.
Sidekick, collaborator, and copilot DJ Alex J will man the main console, drop old-school beats into a 21st-century musical wormhole, and harness the hyperfunky result, all while Captain Doodle spits visions straight from the most remote depths of time-space.
