Better than: Granny takes a squirt
Before I begin, I want you all to know that I had absolutely no date to bring to see Daniel Tosh. Not that my friends didn’t want to go see the host of Comedy Central’s surprisingly good clip show, Tosh.0. It’s just that everybody I knew was busy. So acting as my plus one that night: my mother.
Needless to say, my mom didn’t exactly “get” Tosh. It was like locking an Amish person in a radio control tower. She had no idea what was going on. The fiercely snarky comic has become the de facto voice of the social media world, renowned for giving “web redemptions” of classic YouTube clips and chronicling the crazier side of Twitter. His comedy is full of pop culture references and self-referential geekiness, and moves so fast it’s easy to miss a joke or three. So if you’re not quick on the Internet-style uptake, it’s easy to get lost in his act.
However, for fans of the comic and his raucous show, Tosh delivered a
set of quick wit laced with vulgarity, extreme pessimism, and plenty of
“I can’t believe he just said that” moments.
Some examples: Tosh lingered for 10 minutes over what Brad Pitt and
David Beckham’s hypothetical love child would look like and how much
he’d want to have sex with it. He broke down the sick relationship he
shares with his sister in a joke that ended with rape and silly string
and later waxed philosophical about the benefits of taking a shit while
sitting on the toilet backwards. Yes, it was that kind of show.
While a lot of his bits seemed designed for 140 characters or less,
Tosh had pretty much the entire crowd loling in the aisles by the time
his hour-long set was up. Except my mother. She mostly just covered her
face and looked at me with shame.

Personal bias: I’m actually contemplating using his technique of
sitting backwards on the toilet. You can use the tank to sleep, eat
breakfast, or just prop yourself up. #laziness
