Longtime Miami resident and impossibly beguiling indie hero Chan Marshall is back with the first Cat Power album of original material in over six years.
The album, parts of which were recorded in Miami, will be released on September 4. It's called Sun and will probably be amazing because, well, why shouldn't it be?
Checkout the first single, "Ruin" after the cut. It's accompanied by some video of Chan defacing public property and sporting a topnotch breakup haircut.
Marshall played everything on the album and produced it herself. It was mixed by Philippe Zdar of Cassius, who seems like a good fit based on the sound of "Ruin."
But who knows, maybe he just sat around, looking cool and going, "That eez very good, Cat Pow-urrrr."
