Hell to the yeah! Cat Power is back!

After a six-year hiatus, the singer-songwriter otherwise known as Chan Marshall is set to release a new album, Sun, at the beginning of September. And where there is an album release, there is almost always a tour.

Luckily, Miami totally rules and Marshall lives in the Magic City on a part-time basis. So she's kicking off her North American trek with an exciting stop at Grand Central on Thursday, October 11.

We have to change our panties just thinking about it.

Cat Power's Sun North American Tour Dates

October 11 Grand Central, Miami, FL

October 13 Corona Capital Music Festival, Mexico City, MX

October 19 Metropolis, Montreal, QC

October 20 Kool Haus, Toronto, ON

October 22 9:30 Club, Washington, D.C.

October 23 Hammerstein Ballroom, New York, NY

October 24 House of Blues, Boston, MA

October 25 Electric Factory, Philadelphia, PA

October 27 Royal Oak Music Theatre, Detroit, MI

October 28 Riviera, Chicago, IL

November 2 Vogue Theater, Vancouver, BC

November 3 Showbox Sodo, Seattle, WA

November 4 Crystal Ballroom, Portland, OR

November 5 Fox Theater, Oakland, CA

November 8 Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, CA

It's going to be a sexy evening of stripped-down grit, tears, and joy. Marshall seems to be on a real personal empowerment kick, having played and produced everything on the upcoming Sun by herself. Excitingly, some of it was recorded right here in sunny Miami, so she kind of owes us this one.

Marshall calls the album "a rebirth," and according to Bob Boilen of NPR's All Songs Considered, it's definitely taking things in a new direction. It features more electronics, drum machines, and synthesizers. But thankfully, no mention of experimenting with dubstep.

The show in Miami will probably be a glorious mix of classic Cat Power and her new short-haired swagger. She may now be 40, but this bitch is fiercer than ever.

Cat Power's Sun Tour. Thursday, October 11. Grand Central, 697 N. Miami Ave., Miami. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets go on sale Friday, August 10 for $25 plus fees via fla.vor.us. Call 305-377-2277 or visit grandcentralmiami.com.
