Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You

We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

$10,000

Buffalo, New York death-metal legend Cannibal Corpse has been going strong for 23 years, longer than many of its younger fans have likely been alive.

That, however, is the beauty of its chosen musical style, and Cannibal Corpse in particular. As long as there is a fresh, new crop of teenagers hell-bent on exorcising existential demons and pissing off their parents, this band will live forever.

As the quintet’s name indicates, this act has never shied away from exploring the grim, gory, and gruesome, and it favors a sound that is skull-shatteringly loud and lightning fast. With so many former Warped Tour types now trying to imitate death metal, though, it’s refreshing to see legends of the genre still shredding, no holds barred and ugly as ever.
