If we could live in any other city in the world besides Miami, it’d probably be Berlin. But while we wait on that work visa, we’ll have to settle for a popular German dance party.
Broken Hearts Club Berlin started as a monthly event where “DJs, musicians, artists, and music lovers” gathered together for a “raucous fairytale mix of rock, sleazy disco, post punk, burlesque, whorehouse, torch song, neo-wave, raging house, and eighties pop.” In other words, the best fucking party ever.
Ironic mustaches, pencil thin ties, and horn-rimmed spectacles are plentiful at a Broken Hears Club party, so it’s only natural that its founders — Ingrid Junker, Niki Pauls, and Conny Opper — take the hipster freak show on the road each year to culturally relevant, high-brow events like NYC Fashion Week and Art Basel Miami Beach.
Broken Hearts Club Berlin. Friday, December 3. Oceanfront Pavilion, at Collins Park, between 21st and 22nd St., Miami Beach. The party starts at 10 p.m. and admission is free. Visit artbaselmiamibeach.com.
