The members of Bachaco are going to be busy little bees over the next few days. Well, ants maybe. Because, as you know, their name refers to a Brazilian
leafcutter ant. Entomology lessons aside, the SoFla-based fusion group
is going to be performing live at UM for the Patio Jam tomorrow. Then
on Friday they’ll be at the Tina Hills Pavilion in Bayfront Park,
participating in the beloved DWNTWN Series.
Bachaco,
for those that don’t know, is a group of young dudes hailing from
Colombia, Venezuela and Jamaica. And that assortment of nationalities
shines through in their music–a bilingual, upbeat and very danceable
blend of cumbia, Latin rock, reggae and dancehall. Vocalist Eddy,
bassist Jose, guitarist-vocalist Matt, trumpet player Bruce and drummer
Domingo just returned from a tour of Argentina, and they’re working on
their debut record with producer German Ortiz.
