Arturo Sandoval

What's with the name "Art" and jazz musicians? There's Art Pepper, Art Farmer, Art Tatum, and Art Blakey. Then there's Miami's own Arturo Sandoval. A tenured FIU professor who is fluent in jazz, Latin, classical, and popular music styles, the virtuoso trumpeter is a national treasure who has earned four Grammys, six Billboard Awards, and an Emmy. This year, he tore it up, performing at the Grammy ceremony with Justin Timberlake and at the Billboard Awards with Alicia Keys, where he picked up a statue for Best Latin Jazz album. Given those credentials, his upcoming performance at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts is sure to be nothing short of high art.
