Those who know Colombian band Aterciopelados will understand that singer Andrea Echeverri’s solo project is also part of their evolution. The ten-year-old pop-rock band that emerged in the mid-Nineties as one of MTV Latin America’s favorite acts with pan-regional appeal is now on hiatus, and most of the members’ energy is focused on helping Echeverri record her self-titled debut. After six Aterciopelados albums that blended Echeverri’s sweet, moody, and witty croons with the adrenaline of her male bandmates, she has embarked on creating what she likes to call “a feminine Latin chill album” that reflects her passion for electronic music as well as her views on motherhood and family life.
