–This week, Rick Ross was in New York City alongside on-and-off Miami resident, Diddy. They were spotted at Brooklyn, NY nightspot The Lab on March 9th to celebrate the life of The Notorious B.I.G. March 9th marked the 13th anniversary of his tragic passing and hip-hop celebs including Fabolous, Jadakiss and Busta Rhymes were also in attendance. Rick Ross went through an impromptu performance of his classic single “Hustlin”, along with his verses from the Diddy and Dirty Money’s “Angels” remix. [MTVNews]

–Miami’s Mayday is headed to perform during next week’s SXSW
festivities in Austin. They are booked to perform during Last Rights
Clothing’s The House Fire events along with other Miami acts such as DJ
Craze, Ghostwridah and a long list of underground and overground
heavyweights. Mayday even released a new song called “Lost Highway” on
the official mixtape for The House Fire. Download the song and mixtape

They’re sure to be busy next week. [LastRights]

–You may or may not heard of South Florida based City Of God.
They’re a hip-hop band with a unique touch of Top-40 appeal. They’ve
gone on to release a couple buzz singles over the last couple year or
so, and have truly developed a decent following. So much that they have
officially signed a record deal with Bieler Bros Records, an independent
label distributed via Warner Music Group. Under the partnership, they
are working on a single and a full length album that will hopefully
release within the year. And more immediately – on April 2nd, you can
see City Of God perform at the Apple Store in Aventura. [The305]

–Well last week’s sales prediction wasn’t too far off. DJ Khaled
ended up ranking at the #14 spot of the Billboard charts with over
28,000 copies sold of his fourth album Victory. And with over 300,000
transactions of the various singles that have been released for Victory,
we’re sure DJ Khaled is a happy camper. And not to be forgotten, Ft.
Lauderdale’s own Jason Derulo, a Dillard High graduate, also
released his self-titled debut album with a final tally of 42,273
records sold in his first week, which adds on to more than 4 Million
downloads of his hit single “Whatcha Say”. [HipHopPress]
