Milly's Restaurant

When it comes to Milly's Restaurant, it's hard to settle on only one of its many selling points. This small restaurant, inconspicuously located on the corner of a rundown shopping center, is a rare gem. Once you walk in (usually after the host opens the door for you out of nowhere), you are instantly transplanted to another time. The decor screams "old world" with its dim lighting, cherry wood furniture, wine-colored drapes, and Tiffany-style light fixtures. The best and most important aspect of dining at Milly's is the food. Although the menu includes various dishes including pastas and steaks, the house specialty is mofongo. That dish is made up of fried plantains mashed with fresh garlic and stuffed with an assortment of goodies. Choices of stuffing include shrimp, lobster, longaniza (Spanish sausage), lambi guisado (stewed conch), fried chicken chunks, grilled chicken breast, and pork -- and all taste great.
