Former home of the News Cafe, the Villa Mayfair Restaurant & Lounge finally opened its doors to the public in Coconut Grove. Owner Timo Kipp hired a power team to spearhead the elegant project including executive chef Frederic Joulin and interior designer Francois Frossard.
With a 4,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art kitchen and raw bar with picture window, chef Joulin is expected to offer his finest haute cuisine to the table. (Seeing as he’s been working under the guidance of three Michelin Star chef Guy Savoy for 20 years, we expect no less).
Frossard, on the other hand, has used his innate sense of tasteful decor to dazzle guests throughout their entire stay.
It is said that Villa Mayfair has been created to bring a piece of über-chic South of France to the Grove — 1930s floor tiles, sleek, hammered-brass bar and sexy Murano glass chandeliers overhead to give you an idea.
With Kipp’s vision, he wanted guests “feeling welcomed and pampered in all [their] senses… sight through its design, taste and smell through its culinary exhilaration, touch through its immaculate service and sound through its companionship with in-house DJs.”
The restaurant and lounge is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. and reservations are encouraged (305-774-1500).
This wouldn’t be a bad place to ring in a chic and elegant new year, now that we think about it… they’re currently taking reservations for that too.
