Vino E Olio, an Italian restaurant specializing in Tuscan fare, is slated to debut at 139 NE 39th Street in Miami’s Design District sometime in September.

News of a new Italian restaurant opening doesn’t exactly set hearts aflutter around here, but the chef of Vino E Olio, Andrea Menichetti, brings with him an uncommonly strong culinary background. Part of it is in his genes: His father Maurizio Menichetti, a sommelier and vineyard owner, along with his mother, Valeria Piccini, founded a famed restaurant (Da Caino) in Maremma, Italy. Each parent has received two Michelin stars, which doesn’t technically make Andrea a 4-star Michelin chef, but it does suggest that he learned an awful lot about cooking while growing up.

Vino E Olio will be Andrea’s first restaurant, and promises to feature

“produce, cheeses, and meats that come from small local producers”, as

well as wines from his father’s vineyard. Andrea’s signature dishes

include Tortelli Cacio e Pere, or tortelli pasta stuffed with sheep

cheese and pears; and, for dessert, almond cannoli with chocolate

mousse and Grand Marnier cream.

The contemporary space will boast glass lit walls and an outdoor terrace;

altogether, it will seat 220. As you can see in the first photo, the

high-concept design will make the dining room look just like an artist

rendering!
