Tudor House, the American bistro part-owned by celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian located in the lobby of the Dream South Beach Hotel, is closing come the end of the summer.

The chef/partner has decided to divest his interest in Tudor House back to Dream South Beach’s owner Sant Chatwal in order to focus on other projects in St. Petersburg….and Miami! Zakarian is also working on a major food & beverage partnership, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

Zakarian told Short Order, “I am extremely proud of what the staff

and I have accomplished at Tudor House with Sant Chatwal.

We’re thankful for you. Are you thankful for us?

We feel thankful for our staff and for the privilege of fulfilling our mission to be an unparalleled source of information and insight in Miami. We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community.
Help us continue giving back to Miami.

$30,000

Unfortunately, my contract with the hotel limited me from pursuing other

opportunities in South Florida which I am excited to do.”

Tudor House opened last year to critical acclaim and was recently named Miami New Times’ “best hotel restaurant

for 2012. Though Zakarian is the name that drew diners in for a

man behind the burners and beautiful food. In his September,

2011 review of Tudor House, Lee Klein said, “If DeRosa can keep the

cuisine at Tudor House at its current level, his name will likely

increase in stature too.”

If you haven’t dined at Tudor House’s

weekend Rose brunch or tried their grilled branzino ($29), you still

have time this summer.
