Total Wine & More is bringing its mega-spirits shopping experience to South Beach with a 19,105-square-foot store. The new Total Wine moves into the Fifth & Alton shopping center on October 15, if all goes according to schedule, and a big grand opening celebration is in the works.
The store will feature thousands of spirits, wines, and beers. Before starting work, employees must complete 150 hours of classroom training, which amounts to about a month of learning about wine and spirits. That means you’ll have someone knowledgeable to ask when you can’t find the right bottle to impress your fiancee’s parents — or you want to know the essentials to stock your new home bar.
The new store will also feature a state-of-the-art training room that will host consumer seminars and virtual tasting where winemakers can present their wines directly from their vineyards while SoBe consumers enjoy the wines at the same time. The training room will also be made available for local organizations when it’s not in use. Organizations interested in booking the room can go to bookourroom@totalwine.com to reserve the space.
The Miami Beach location will offer 14,000 to 15,000 spirits and wines and will also feature a good selection of local beers including Miami Brewing, Wynwood Brewing, Concrete Beach, Funky Buddha, Due South, and Barrel of Monks. Tampa-based Cigar City Brewing’s beers will also be sold. In addition, Schnebly’s tropical fruit-based wines will be available.

If you’re looking for a career change, Total Wine & More is currently hiring for the Miami Beach store. Each location has a team of about 40-50, including about 20 full-time employees. The company offers benefits like comprehensive health care, a 401(k) with employer contribution, and paid time off. It has also launched a beer-training program for employees who want to become certified beer servers.
One of the coolest perks of working at Total Wine, by the way, includes the opportunity to participate in various learning trips. Each year, the company selects 70 staff members to Napa Valley to study soil, vines, and barrels and learn more about the wine making process. Every other year, 50 employees are flown to France and Spain to study wine, in addition to taking smaller groups to Italy, Australia, Germany, and other wine regions throughout the year.
