Ted’s at YoungArts, the artistic and culinary collaboration between the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) and Starr Restaurants Catering Group, soft opens today, December 17, in Miami’s YoungArts tower building.

Dubbed an “intimate cultural lounge and eatery,” the space allows guests to try unique dishes while experiencing visual and performing arts performances curated by YoungArts. Programs involving various media like dance; photography; video installation; popular, classic and jazz music; and spoken word will be explored.

The restaurant, named after YoungArts’ co-founder and philanthropist, Ted Arison, is the only restaurant in the Southeast designed by world-renowned architect and YoungArts artistic advisor Frank Gehry. Gehry also designed Miami Beach’s New World Center. The YoungArts space features immersive 360-degree HD video projection capabilities and state of the art acoustic design by Nagata Acoustics, along with recording capabilities that allow performances to be streamed live online.

The restaurant also boasts a custom translucent glass bar, and retro modern lounge furnishings. Simon Powles, president of Starr Restaurants Catering Group, says he is, “extremely excited about our partnership with the National YoungArts Foundation. With their mission and their roots here in South Florida, we are enthusiastic to align ourselves with such a remarkable foundation and cultural institution.”

The menu will feature global tapas, along with a full bar. Ted’s at YoungArts will be open for a limited number of days in December, then will go on a hiatus until the New Year. After that, the arts space/restaurant will be open Wednesday – Saturday from 6 p.m. – closing. The schedule for December is:

  • Wednesday December 17th – Kelley Kessell and Jack Schunk
  • Thursday December 18th – Kelley Kessell
  • Friday December 19th – Jaylon Ballard and David Leon
  • Saturday December 20th – Jaylon Ballard and David Leon
