There was one happy crowd at Taste of the Nation Miami on Thursday night, where philanthropists gathered to support the national child hunger-fighting organization Share Our Strength. And with the best restaurants in the city catering the event, how in the world couldn’t the atmosphere be happy?

The ballroom at Turnberry Isle Hotel and Resort was a lively, well-attended scene, but not too crowded, for the most part, to wander from delicious booth to booth. Favorites included La Cote‘s octopus dish and the tacos at Steak 954.

The soiree was presented by event chair chef Allen Susser and restaurant chair chef André Bienvenu of Joe’s Stone Crab. WPLG-TV’s Laurie Jennings and Calvin Hughes, along with Gulfstream Park chef Ralph Pagano hosted the competitive live auction.

If you didn’t get tickets to the pricey food exhibition, no worries- we saved some eye candy for you. Here are some photos:

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,250 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.

$30,000
