Target is in the process of completing its redesign of six stores in the Miami area. The new, wider-aisle layouts for each venue feature a 40% increase in food offerings. Groceries now available include fresh produce (seasonal fruit, baby carrots, and bagged lettuce to name a few); pre-packaged baked goods (dinner rolls and pies); and packaged meat such as chicken, pork, and Sutton & Dodge USDA Choice beef. National food brands and Target’s private label brands will share shelf space in the snappily renovated stores — the company claims that 90% of the categories you can find in a SuperTarget are now available at these updated Targets.

The gussied-up six are: Bird Road (7795 SW 40th St.); Kendall (15005 SW 88th St.); Dadeland (8350 S Dixie Hwy.); Cutler Ridge (20500 SW 112th Ave.); Miami Central (3401 N Miami Ave.); Aventura (21265 Biscayne Blvd — this last to be completed in October).

It all sounds fine. Now let’s just hope that Target has learned its lesson and will stay out of politics.
