Chef Antaun Teasley was killed last night at South Beach nightclub, Mansion.
Riptide reports a shooting occurred at the nightclub at about 3:30 a.m. As people fled the packed club, one victim lay dying on the floor. The then-unidentified victim was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center, where he died a few hours earlier.

CBS Miami now reports that the the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Antaun Teasley, who owned Young Chef Catering in Miami.

Teasley graduated Pennsylvania Culinary in Pittsburgh in 2000 and immediately headed to Florida. Landing a job at the tony Boca Raton Resort & Club, Teasley worked alongside executive chefs James Reaux and Kevin Garcia, then furthered his studies at the National Academy of Professional Arts in 2001, where he obtained a degree in bartending.
Teasley then worked at Morton’s of Chicago and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Giovanni’s in his native Cleveland, before moving back to Miami.
He coined the name “Young Chef” for his “young spirit” and enthusiasm for the culinary world, and started his own consulting firm, specializing in Italian dishes with an “energetic vibe in the kitchen that is pulsated in the herbs and spices.” Soon, the “young chef” was cooking for some of the most prominent names in music and sports like Timbaland, Kenyon Martin, Ricky Davis, and Kendrick Perkins.
Most recently, he was employed by Miami Heat guard Norris Cole as a personal chef. Young Chef Teasley was also a contributing member of the Miami community, hosting Thanksgiving lunches at Camillus House. The Miami culinary community has lost a good man and a talented young chef.
