The South Beach Wine & Food Festival yesterday released additional tickets to the “sold-out” Amstel Light Burger Bash. That’s great news for those who missed out on tickets the first time, but I’m with those who bought tickets early at full price in feeling a little cheated.
Organizers claimed that unlike in past years, no second round of tickets would be released this year. Yet shortly after the tickets went on sale, festival Facebook Fans were offered a 15 percent discount for a day on the “sold-out” $200 tickets. The discount wasn’t valid on tickets already bought.
We all know the festival needs to make money, but why send people into a buying frenzy by telling them they won’t have another chance to buy tickets? And then roll out more, some at a discount?
Organizers say they’ve expanded the event space to accommodate those who buy the new block of tickets. Let’s hope they’ve added more contestants, too, so attendees have a pleasant experience and enjoy their burgers without having to squeeze through even larger crowds.
As of this morning, tickets from the new block were still available online. Here’s hoping people leave the Burger Bash happy and not with buyer’s remorse.
