Village of Merrick Park Shoppers getting an early start to their holiday shopping can enjoy an authentic French lunch today when Brasserie Central soft opens. The restaurant’s official opening date is this Friday, November 21, but hungry diners eager for a taste can come in all this week for a sneak peek.
The French bistro by chef/restaurateur Pascal Oudin of Coral Gables’ modern French restaurant, Pascal’s on Ponce, will focus on more traditional fare. The 3,000-square-foot, Parisian-style eatery will feature exposed butcher-block tables, bistro chairs, a 14-seat communal table, and a large indoor/outdoor bar. In addition, Le Comptoir, a small oyster bar, will offer raw seafood in an intimate setting.

The menu will feature true, authentic cuisine, utilizing both local ingredients and those imported directly from France. As chef Oudin explains, “Brasserie Central is a concept I’ve wanted to execute for quite some time. Here, we are true to the authentic Parisian brasserie, making everything from scratch daily, with classic French recipes and methods, much like I used to enjoy in Paris.”
Items include housemade sausages, pate, and charcuterie; artisanal cheeses; traditional hors d’oeuvres; salads; sandwiches; and classic stove-to-table cocotte stews.
Located in Village of Merrick Park’s courtyard, the restaurant opens today at 11 a.m. for lunch, and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily until 11 p.m. In addition, shoppers can revive at the afternoon glacerie menu, which features ice creams, waffles, and crepes.
