They say hunger gives an artist inspiration. That could be the reason Miami’s restaurateurs and writers have been sharing Lunch Poems.

Lunch Poems — sponsored by the Arts & Business Council and O, Miami — is Miami’s largest crowdsourced poetry project. And you’re invited to join in the fun.

The project, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Poet Frank O’Hara’s book Lunch Poems, asks Miami to wax poetic about everyone’s favorite part of the day: lunch.

Just tweet your lunch-related poem using hashtag #lunchpoems to get involved. The best tweets will be retweeted and shared on social media. Some might even be read at the Lunch Poems & Creative Happy Hour this Thursday, April 24.

The happy hour, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Stage Miami, features champagne, courtesy of Moon Star Fine Arts, sandwich bites, a Mediterranean-inspired gazpacho tasting with Tio Gazpacho, live music, and, of course, poetry. Author Mandy Baca and the Biscayne Poet will read poetry, including #lunchpoems selections.

Tickets to the happy hour cost $12 for general admission and $25 for VIP, which includes a limited-edition tote bag filled with goodies. Tickets are on sale at omiami.org.

In the meantime, get in on the action and share a poem using #lunchpoems. Here are a few of our favorites to inspire you.
