Jack Garabedian of Jefe’s Original Fish Taco and Burger is catering to a brand-new audience with his Food Trucks on the Wharf at Haulover.
The roundup, to be located at Haulover Marina in Bal Harbour, will feature the usual mix of ethnic street foods and American chow. What sets this movable feast apart is its boat-friendly location.
For the first time, boaters will be able to tie up and grab a bite on the go. Garabedian also plans to monitor a VHF marine band, so boaters will be able to radio in their meal orders. A small skiff that delivers goodies directly to boats is being discussed, but no timeline was given.
Though food truck permitting issues with the City of Miami and Miami-Dade have never really been resolved, roundup organizers such as Garabedian are finding innovative ways to keep the mobile meal community alive in South Florida.
Food Trucks on the Wharf will serve every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (though they can technically serve until sundown). Truck lineups will change regularly, but this week Jefe’s Original Fish Taco will be joined by the Rolling Stove, MisoHungry, Wrapidito Yum, Slow Food Truck, Caza Crepes, Divan Bakery, Dolci Peccati Gelato, and My Coffee Brake.
