The South Beach Wine & Food Festival is over for another year and, though some of us have been in serious detox mode, it’s time to party once again. After all, how many days does your liver need to recover? We’re saying five days should do it.
This weekend’s activities are pretty varied — from a good ‘ole hootenanny complete with barbecue (and a six-hour open bar) to a celebration on the mile (complete with frita pop-up) to the celebration of the world’s most beloved children’s author (by eating green eggs and ham).

Long before all-night clubs, Miami was just a small town on the edge of a giant swamp. The Swamp Stomp celebrates those Miami roots with a two-day celebration of music, food, and drinks at Tobacco Road with live performances by over a dozen bands. The party starts at 8 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday and admission is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. An even tastier deal is the VIP ticket, which gets you GA admission on Friday, and a six-hour open bar on Sunday with free carving station. A la carte barbecue dishes are available both days. Bread + Butter Pop-Up at Carnaval on the Mile
On March 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., the most beautiful mile in Miami gets its party on when Carnaval on the Mile takes over Coral Gables’ Miracle Mile. Expect dancing in the streets, 120 artists displaying their work, three concert stages with continuous live music, Bacardi cocktails, and food from nearly a dozen of Coral Gables’ finest restaurants. The most exciting? The Bread + Butter pop-up, which actually takes over two locations at Carnaval — one near the restaurant on LeJeune Road and one near Douglas Road. Chef Albert Cabrera is serving up classic frita sliders ($5); frita Chinas made with kimchi and driracha ketchup ($6); double bacon fritas ($7); choripan ($6); and classic sodas like Jupina, Materva, and Ironbeer to wash it down with ($2). The pop-up runs both days from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Eat Green Eggs and Ham for Dr. Seuss’ Birthday
Forget Hemingway, everyone’s favorite author remains Dr. Seuss. Theodor Seuss Geisel, author, artist, and poet will celebrate his 110th birthday on March 2. We suggest toasting the man the way Sam I Am would — with green eggs and ham (in taco form)
Naked Taco at the Dream South Beach is serving a Green Eggs and Ham taco, made with scrambled farm fresh organic eggs, scrambled with Chihuahua cheese and chile verde salsa, then topped with house made soft chorizo. The green eggs and ham are served on a soft corn tortilla, then topped with avocado crema. For $5 each, get a margarita (also greenish) and say these words, “I would eat them in a boat, and I would eat them with a goat. I would eat them here or there. I would eat them anywhere. I do like green eggs and ham (tacos). I do like them, Sam I Am.”
