Miami’s Best Eats and Drinks This Weekend: New Year’s 2016

Happy New Year! 

We’ve survived 2015 and are looking forward to a prosperous 2016 filled with fun and happiness. 

But before we all go about trying to run five miles a day or get that promotion or find the love of our lives, let’s take this weekend to enjoy ourselves. That means celebrating a bit more with good food and good friends. 

Whether you’re meeting family for brunch, or want to do a little local food shopping, there’s something for everyone this weekend – which starts now!

New Year’s Day Brunch
Celebrate the first day of the new year with a little hair of the dog and a large plate of eggs. Some of Miami’s favorite restaurants are opening their doors for brunch service today. With the three day weekend, you can get your brunch on a day early at Apiero Kitchen & Bar, The Continental, Izzy’s Fish & Oyster, and more. Miccosukee Indian Village Arts & Crafts Festival
This weekend, encounter alligators, watch tribal dance, and eat treats like Native American fry bread at the Miccosukee Indian Village Arts & Crafts Festival. The festival runs from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. today, January 1 through Sunday, January 3 at the Miccosukee Indian Village at MM 35 on U.S. Highway 41 (Tamiami Trail). Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for seniors and kids 7 to 12. Kids 6 and under are free.

Pinecrest Farmers’ Market
Start your New Year’s resolution to eat better immediately at Sunday’s Pinecrest farmers’ market. The market, open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Gardens, offers everything from locally grown produce to gifts. Participating farms and vendors include Bee Heaven Farm, Laura’s Produce, LNB Groves, My Exotic Fruits, Olga Diaz Produce, Sun Fresh Farm, Trietnoyer Produce, V&B Farms, Doctor Pickle, Keez Beez, Imperial Roasts Coffee, and Babe Froman Fine Sausage. No admission and free parking helps you keep your pledge to eat locally in 2016.

Orange Bowl Celebration at Monty’s Sunset All Weekend
Monty’s Sunset is the “official” South Beach headquarters for the Orange Bowl, which means that if you’re a Clemson fan you’ve still got a lot of well-deserved partying to do. Celebrate the victory with happy-hour specials, Miami-style pool parties, stone crab claws, and lots of college football fans. The party lasts all weekend.
