Reader support matters more than ever

How do you fete a team that brought the entire city of Miami to its feet in a celebration of team spirit and hometown pride? Well, cake is always nice, but let’s face it — you’re not going to the supermarket on the way home to pick something up for the Miami Heat.
You’re going to want something a little flashier…like, maybe, a cake with real gold leaf and 36,000 Swarovski crystals.
Miami’s cake maker to the stars, Divine Delicacies, started designing the beauty about two weeks ago — well before the Heat won the championships — just in case.
Hot Hot Hoops reports the five-tier cake features an edible trophy covered with 24-carat edible gold paint. There’s a championship hat made of sugar. There’s the Heat logo, complete with flames.
But, the cake’s star feature is the basketball, hand decorated with 36,000 Swarovski crystals.
Subtle? Hardly. Fitting for our white hot Heat? Absolutely! A delicious tribute to a winning team, indeed.
