The ones that did are: Laurelhurst Market, Portland, Oregon; Miller Union, Atlanta; Menton, Boston; Marea, New York; Anchovies & Olives (makes me thirsty just saying it), Seattle; Hatfield’s, Los Angeles; Ellerbe Fine Foods, Fort Worth; Bar La Grassa, Minneapolis; Frances, San Francisco; The Purple Pig, Chicago.

Food Network Magazine also jumped into the act this week with its Top

Ten Best Eats in America — and again no Miami. Nor are we in the Ten

Best Food/drink Destination category, or in Ten Best Regional Classics, but Kermit’s Key West Lime Shoppe made it to the Ten Best Sweets, and the spaghetti at Scarpetta is deemed one of the Ten Best Comfort Foods.

So altogether that’s one-for-sixty as far as Miami restaurants

are concerned; two-for-sixty if we widen the net to South Florida.

I haven’t eaten in enough of these restaurants around America to know

if our best joints stack up or not. I’ll be taking a short trip west

soon enough, and will hopefully get some idea of what’s going on out

there.

Meanwhile, let’s just sulk.
