Another longtime bar has closed its doors in Miami. Bar Nancy, a staple of the Little Havana nightlife scene known for its Revolutionary War theme and live music, has quietly closed its doors at 2007 SW Eighth St. The bar, which earned a reputation as a local hangout on a stretch of Calle Ocho increasingly overrun by tourists, appears to have closed in late 2025.
While ownership has not released a formal statement regarding the closure, the venue has remained dark for weeks, and its digital presence has gone silent since December 19, 2025. Its once-packed events calendar is now blank, and recurring theme nights have begun migrating to other venues in South Florida.

Seven Years on Calle Ocho
Bar Nancy opened in 2017, bringing a rustic, ship-like atmosphere to Little Havana. Founded by a team that included Lizz Dominguez and Ben Bush, the bar was designed to feel like a neighborhood “local” rather than a tourist destination.
The interior featured colonial-style artwork, nautical details, and a porthole leading to a back patio. Since its inception, the venue has been a frequent winner of New Times awards, including Best Cocktails in 2017 and Best Venue for Local Acts in 2024.
The bar developed a loyal following for its “Kitchen Club” and “Disco AF” nights, which drew eclectic crowds for goth, 80s, and alternative music. Recent guest reports on Reddit indicate that these events have moved to other locations, such as Bougainvillea’s in South Miami, as the Calle Ocho space sat vacant.

What Bar Nancy Was Known For
The bar’s concept centered on the brigantine Nancy, a ship famous for carrying ammunition and spirits during the American Revolution. This theme extended to a cocktail menu filled with ocean and patriotic nods. Popular drinks included the “Abigail Adams,” mixed with gin and peach liqueur, and the “Stem to Stern,” featuring apricot-infused rye. The bar also became a favorite for its daily happy hour, which offered half-priced drinks to a mix of locals and hospitality industry workers.
Beyond the drinks, Bar Nancy was a hub for Miami’s music scene. Its small stage hosted a constant rotation of local bands, DJs, and concerts. It provided a home for genres ranging from rock to disco in a neighborhood primarily known for salsa.
The closure of Bar Nancy leaves a gap in the street’s independent bar scene. In late 2025, the area also saw the closure of Doce Provisions, another Little Havana favorite recognized by the Michelin Guide.
As of now, the Bar Nancy space remains shuttered with no announced plans for a new tenant.
