July 4th weekend traditionally signals the end of lychee season. Earlier this week, my wife snared a bag of the last of lovely Paradise Farms’ Sweet Heart lychees. More to the point: Gabriele Marewski, bless her sweet heart, knows how much my wife loves this fruit and put some aside for her.

Sweet Hearts have tiny seeds, which means much more flesh. The moniker is applied because these lychees are vaguely heart-shaped and are especially sweet. And succulent. And luscious. And I have the last bag. Bwaa-ha-ha!

Actually, my wife has the last bag and keeps it under lock and key. I am given a few each night, at the same time she gives our cat her treats. The cat and I are both happy after that.

For the rest of you: Wait till next year.
