Kush, Wynwood’s pub specializing in craft beer, will tap a rare keg of Hot Lil’ Miami Tart, the collaboration beer made between Miami’s J. Wakefield Brewing Company and San Diego’s Stone Brewing Company on July 10.
Brewed at Stone’s Liberty Station brewery, Hot Lil’ Miami Tart is a Berliner Weiss beer brewed with fresh fruit such as guava, mango and passion fruit. Brewed not just with fruit but with chile peppers, the wheat beer sits at about 4 percent alcohol-by volume. The beer has been available at Stone’s Liberty Station brewery for several months, but is just now making its way to Miami. Quantity is extremely limited.

J. Wakefield owner Johnathan Wakefield befriended Stone Brewing’s Greg Koch and ended up flying out to San Diego last January for the collaboration.
Wakefield, known throughout Florida for his brewing his Florida Weisses, is in the throes of constructing a brewery in Wynwood. Construction began in March and is projected to be completed within the year. The brew house equipment, such as the brew kettle and mash tun, have arrived. Work is now being completed on interior components such as the tasting room. Upon completion, official opening will soon follow.
The J. Wakefield brewery is among several breweries being constructed in Wynwood. When completed, three breweries in total will be stationed along the NW 24th Street corridor.
One of U.S. craft beer’s most well-known breweries, Stone Brewing has been in production since 1998 and is the 10th largest craft brewery in the United States based on sales volume.
