Sadly, store-bought, traditional pumpkin pies are not vegan-friendly. Nor are they particularly healthy, unless you consider sweetened condensed milk some kind of vitamin supplement. Luckily though, Jugofresh has both health-conscious Miamians and meatless eaters covered when it comes to Thanksgiving desserts this year.
Chef Paco has whipped up four options for pre-order ahead of Turkey Tofurky Day. All raw, the options include key lime, chickpea cookie dough, pumpkin and coconut carrot.

“These pies are not only for raw food enthusiasts,” says Jugofresh owner Matthew Sherman. “They are for anyone and everyone that would like to have a delicious and healthy option alternative to traditional desserts over the holidays. We would put up our pies against any traditionally made holiday desserts. Eyes closed you would pick us every time and that only gets reinforced by your digestive system after the holiday has passed.”
All pies are raw, vegan, gluten free, have nuts in ’em and must be frozen for two hours prior to serving. The menu options include:
Raw key lime pie with coconut flakes and chlorella dusting
Filling: lime, agave, coconut meat, avocado, vanilla extract, grey sea salt, coconut oil, crust: almond, date, vanilla extract, grey sea salt, coconut oil
Garnish: coconut flakes, chlorella
Raw chocolate chickpea cookie dough derby pie with raspberry coulis and sliced fruit
Filling: cashews, coconut meat, coconut mylk, coconut oil, agave, cacao powder
Crust: almond, date, vanilla extract, grey sea salt, coconut oil, raspberry coulis (raspberry, lemon, agave, vanilla extract)
Garnish: coconut flakes, raspberries, pineapple, banana
Raw pumpkin pie with superberry pumpkin seed crunch
Filling: cashew, coconut meat, coconut mylk, coconut oil, agave, pumpkin powder
Crust: almond, date, vanilla extract, grey sea salt, coconut oil
Garnish: superberry mix (mulberries, goji berries, cashews, cacao nibs, coconut), pumpkin seeds
Raw coconut carrot pie with pineapple coconut icing
Filling: cashew, carrot, coconut oil, coconut milk, agave, coconut meat
Crust: almond, date, vanilla extract, grey sea salt, coconut oil, coconut pineapple icing (cashew, h2o, coconut oil, pineapple, agave, vanilla extract)
Garnish: grated cacao nib
Each pie is $32, and they’re available for order until Monday, November 24. Ordering can be done in-store or via phone. Pick-up will be Wednesday, November 26, at the Jugofresh South Pointe or Coral Gables locations.
