Reader support matters more than ever
We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.
Since it opened in December 2008, the food at über-popular Joey’s in Wynwood has been so good that people have forgiven the fact that you couldn’t get a cocktail with your world-class pizza.
Now that one shortcoming has been fixed. Joey’s has been graced with a full liquor license and is celebrating with a new pre-weekend cocktail hour. Every Thursday and Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m., buy a cocktail and enjoy pizza on the house.
Chef Ivo Mazzon will keep the pizzas coming, including Joey’s specialty Dolce e Piccante pizza, crafted with figs, gorgonzola cheese, honey and hot pepper. Classic margherita, focaccia bread and some surprise varieties will be thrown into the mix.
The free pizza offer is available at the bar only, but Joey’s will also put a few seats outside, so plan to get there early to stake your place.
Joey’s signature cocktails are $10 and wines by the glass range from $7 to $18 (with most in the under $10 category).
