Hedy Goldsmith, executive pastry chef at Michael Schwartz’s the Genuine Hospitality Group, is leaving her position to move to Los Angeles, according to Miami.com.
Goldsmith, who was nominated for several James Beard Awards and authored the book Baking Out Loud: Fun Desserts With Big Flavors, will leave the Genuine Hospitality Group at the end of April to relocate to the West Coast with her wife, Heidi Ladell.
Jackie Sayet, brand director for the Genuine Hospitality Group (and former New Times writer), confirmed Goldsmith’s departure, saying, “[Goldsmith and Ladell] will be dearly missed here in Miami and specifically at the Genuine Hospitality Group.”

Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,250 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
Goldsmith tweeted the following:
This will be a bittersweet departure for the chef, who has worked beside Michael Schwartz since 1995 at Nemo. Goldsmith took desserts to the next level, mixing savory and sweet and reinventing childhood favorites.
Miami will certainly miss its sweetest resident.
