Harry’s Pizzeria, the casual pizza joint owned by James Beard award-winning chef Michael Schwartz, will be launching a new brunch service starting Sunday, January 6. The brunch menu, spearheaded by chef de cuisine Manny Sulbaran, is short but sweet. It features only six dishes, in addition to weekly changing breakfast pizzas. (The pizzas will be part of the rotating blackboard specials.) All other regular menu items (including soup, salads, and polenta fries) will remain on the menu during brunch.
Special offerings include whipped homemade ricotta with wood oven roasted grapes, spiced cashews, local honey, and brioche toast ($9), egg salad crostini with bacon, creme fraiche, chives ($6), and local squash fritatta ($6). Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Since opening its doors in 2011, the restaurant has hosted various pop-ups by notable out-of-town chefs, such as Gabrielle Hamilton and Hugh Acheson. In the past couple of months, the eatery began hosting brunch pop-ups by local restaurants — including Pubbelly, The Federal Food Drink & Provisions, and Whisk Gourmet Food & catering. Looks like the brunches were well received.
The restaurant also recently implemented dinner specials, featuring dishes like wood oven roasted local fish, porchetta, and poulet rouge chicken. Now more than ever, with this new brunch service, it’s clear that Harry’s Pizzeria is seeking to attract patrons who want something beyond the pizza.
