If you’re not a subscriber to our weekly Café Bites dining newsletter, here’s a taste of what you’re missing. Click here to subscribe. It’s not easy getting high in South Beach. (And put away the crack pipe. That’s not what we’re talking about.) What we are talking about are public spaces that are high enough up to give you a panoramic view of the most decadent slice of the world’s most decadent island. When it comes right down to it, your choices are pretty much limited to The Hotel’s Spire Bar & Lounge and your imagination.
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back. Chef Marco Ferraro has dialed up a menu of haute munchies to complement a roster of international wines and Spire’s signature cocktails. For example, king crab salad with avocado, cucumber, yuzu aioli and crispy wonton with Domaine St. Francois 2007 Bourgogne Blanc and braised beef short rib spring roll with Oyikil’s 2007 Malbec. The party runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and costs $45 for AIWF members and $55 for those of you who haven’t joined yet. Get advance tickets by calling 954-396-3875 or 305-663-9641.
So to sip and snack and remind yourself why you fled New York, there’s no better place than Spire’s rooftop bar and pool lounge, where on Thursday, June 17, the SoFla chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food is hosting “Cocktails and Canapes,” a menu of tastes and (wine) tastings set to the sun dropping below the horizon.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
