Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures Miami New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Tomorrow is National Pancake Day, and to mark the occasion, more than 1,400 IHOP restaurants throughout the country are inviting guests to enjoy a free short stack of its signature buttermilk pancakes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. In return, IHOP is asking local customers to donate what they would have paid for the free pancakes (or more) to the Children’s Miracle Network at Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation in their community.
This is the fifth year that IHOP has been involved in pancake philanthropy; the company is hoping to raise $1.75 million to add to the $3.25 million generated thus far. That’s a lot of flapjacks (something we at New Times know a little about).
If a stack of buttery, syrup-dappled flapjacks isn’t enough to get you
going in the morning, Miss Florida USA 2010 Megan Clementi will be
flipping pancakes and greeting guests at the IHOP at Sunset & 97th
Avenue in Miami (9696 W Sunrise Drive) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Our
guess is that she’ll be doing more greeting than cooking, which is
probably a good thing.
